With its impressive list of standard safety features, the Civic is a prime example of Honda's commitment to providing a high level of occupant protection.
Civic Sedan with Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®)[1] was named a 2010 TOP SAFETY PICK by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). According to the IIHS, the award "recognizes vehicles that do the best job of protecting people in front, side, rear, and now [for 2010] rollover crashes."
Inflated Safety
Every Civic features dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags, front side airbags and side-curtain airbags. The passenger's front side airbag has anOccupant Position Detection System (OPDS) to prevent it from deploying if a child or small-statured person is detected in the airbag's path of deployment.
Get Framed—In a Good Way
The Civic's Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure is a Honda exclusive body design that enhances occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal collisions.
Stay Headed in the Right Direction
Standard on EX-L, Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®)[1] can detect oversteer or understeer and brake individual wheels and/or reduce engine speed to help restore you to your intended path of travel.
Controlled Stopping
The standard anti-lock braking system (ABS) helps you maintain steering control during hard stops, while the Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) system apportions appropriate braking force depending on how the vehicle is dynamically loaded.
Honda's Safety Philosophy
Honda is committed to providing safety for everyone—that means crash protection not only for our own drivers and passengers, but also for other vehicle occupants, and injury mitigation for pedestrians. We are dedicated to identifying and implementing advanced designs and features that help enhance the safety of vehicles on the road.
[1] VSA is not a substitute for safe driving. It cannot correct the vehicle’s course in every situation or compensate for reckless driving. Control of the vehicle always remains with the driver.

Model Overview
You'll understand that the new Civic is something far beyond the ordinary when you first lay eyes on it. It has been completely redesigned from the inside out to deliver you more control, more wind-cutting aerodynamics, more technology. And, best of all, more fun. Slip behind the wheel and your first impressions are confirmed. The new interior is space-aged cool and super functional. The new two-tier instrument panel helps you concentrate on the road better, offering a prime view of the information you need most, with less eye movement. The new Civic Sedan also boasts other goodies, such as 4-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system that's MP3 and Windows Media Audio® (WMA®) compatible. The EX adds two more speakers and keeps audio system controls close at hand on the 2-spoke steering wheel.
But what makes the new Civic so breakthrough becomes clear the moment you head out on the open road. The latest i-VTEC® technology, a Drive-by-Wire Throttle System™, 16 valves and 1.6 litres let the all-new Civic engine make 140 peak horses. This power flows through a precise, new 5-speed manual transmission or the only available 5-speed automatic in its class.
On top of the power-spreading benefits of Variable valve Timing and lift Electronic Control (i-VTEC), Civic adds a brilliant new twist. Under light engine loads, this next-generation i-VTEC system delays valve closing and essentially reduces the piston stroke for the fuel-efficiency of a smaller engine.
Plus, the new Civic boasts more standard safety features than any other car in its class – like 4-wheel Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Driver and Front Passenger Dual-Stage, Dual-Threshold Airbags (SRS), Side Curtain Airbags. In fact, the 2006 Civic was just won Top Safety Pick – Gold from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The Civic earned "Good" ratings in frontal, side impact and rear impact tests and measurements, the only small car to do so.
So climb in, get comfortable and follow the road to fun.
