Honda Motor Co. says it will recall about 383,000 vehicles to fix a potential problem with their ignition interlock systems. The recall includes about 197,000 Accords and 117,000 Civic models from the 2003 model year and 69,000 Element vehicles from the 2003 and 2004 model years.
Ignition interlocks keep the driver from removing the ignition key unless the vehicle’s transmission lever is set in the “park” position. They are common across the auto industry and their tendency to fail isn’t necessarily unique to Honda.
